Oxygen Snowboard: A Serious Contender

Oxygen have been around a while and have a foothold in the snowboard market place – odds are that you’ve seen an Oxygen snowboard on the slope.  Oxygen is part of Atomic’s snowboard division (both Amer Sports brands) – back in 2001 Oxygen teamed up with Atomic to focus their product and re-establish brand integrity through turnkey packages and good solid boards.

If you’re looking for something pitched in the intermediate price range it would be a good idea to check out an Oxygen snowboard. Do yourself a favour though and shop around for the best deal otherwise you’ll find yourself at the upper end of this pricing segment. They also have a few high end boards definitely worth considering.

Most of the boards have a directional shape and tip-to-tail wood cores. A key to an Oxygen snowboard are their lightweight cores. Less weight translates into a more responsive board that is trick focused.

Other features of Oxygen snowboards are 3-D profiling featuring Oxygen’s Power Wing System as well as a graphite running bases. All boards have a micro-stone base finish, and full-wrap edges with diamond-disc edge finish.

Various designs in the Oxygen snowboard range:

The Supercross series is specifically designed for boardercross riders.

The Supreme series Oxygen snowboard uses a 3-D profile, super-light core, Power Wing System, and a graphite running base.

The LRS (Light Rider Series) designed for the lightweight shredder.

For larger-footed riders, Oxygen offers the Vibe Plus series, an offspring of the ever so popular Vibe series.  The Vibe series Oxygen snowboard is focused on aesthetics with attitude.

The Globe series is primarily focused on the price-conscious rider with quality boards at a good price – if you’re just getting started this is the Oxygen snowboard for you.

The Joker series is for up and coming progressive riders while the Oxygen Apex series features the Patented D-Star 3-D profile construction, designed to reduce internal sheer forces caused by internal laminates condensing and constricting.

If the relation to Atomic is anything to go by I’d be taking a closer look at this brand.
